The real Mums of Go Mum!

6/12/2016

Comments

At Go Mum we have mothers from all different walks of life join us with the common goal of wanting to feel good. Today we meet Jen, a group class and PT client who's commitment to consistency in training has really paid off. Go Jen!

Meet Jen.....

How many kids do you have, and what are their ages?

One, who is 18 months old.

What do you like best about being a Mum?
Ha! The only things I don't like are worrying when he doesn't eat, and he's sometimes hard to get to sleep. I'm enjoying the rest. We haven't quite hit the tantrum stage yet though...

Were you nervous about getting back into exercise after having a baby?  If so, why?
No, not nervous, as I've always enjoyed exercising - getting out of the house with a baby on a regular basis was the challenge.

How long have you been training with Go Mum! Group Fitness?
About 12 months

Before starting with Go Mum! what level of understanding did you have about the importance of core & pelvic floor strength for pre and post-natal women? (Out of 1-10, 1 being no understanding, 10 being a guru!). About a 6-7 as I did pre-natal pilates, and they also emphasised core and pelvic floor issues.

What do you most enjoy about training with Go Mum! Group Fitness?
I can't make the group classes any longer, but I used to love going as it was nice to be around other mums trying to improve their fitness, just like I was. I find the PT sessions I am doing now keep me focused.

What exercises do you least enjoy & why?
Lunges!

What are your main fitness/wellbeing goals for 2016?
I am trying to get in at least 3 x 30min exercise sessions a week and to maintain my weight. It is not easy!

Do you have any tips or tricks for other mums who might be struggling to get back into some sort of exercise regime post-pregnancy?
Just start slow but be consistent. A 20 min pram walk when you can get out of the house each day and then combine longer, harder daily walks with one or two formal exercise sessions a week.

As a mum, what are you most grateful for?
Having a happy, healthy child.

Thanks Jen for sharing your Go Mum experience with us!  If, like Jen, you're trying to fit health and fitness in between work and other commitments, then contact the Go Mum! team for advice on training options that will work for you.
