When I started Go Mum! Group Fitness I had two main motivators. To create a job that was flexible to meet the needs of my family, and to do something meaningful for pregnant and postnatal mothers.
I am so proud that Go Mum has consistently provided pregnancy and postnatal specific exercise services to north Brisbane mums for over 3 years and I have been able to care for my family in a way I felt comfortable with. #missionaccomplished
As my children grow their needs change, and like many mums, it falls to me to ensure my family remains on an even keel. I am conscious of the impact stress has on my health and the happiness of my kids and my marriage is always at the forefront of my mind. My husband has also started studying this year, which has added to the challenge of ensuring everyone is healthy and happy and getting the support they need to feel secure and thrive.
So, when the opportunity recently arose to accept a role that allows me to continue to contribute to women’s health in the perinatal period accompanied with the flexibility of working from home, I knew the time was right to make a change.
I cannot yet reveal who I will be working for as this is an important appointment for them and I don’t want to steal their thunder. Once it is announced, you will be the first to know, and I am sure you will see why I was so excited to apply and how it was too good to refuse.
The addition of this role to my workload means that I need to make room to give it the energy it deserves. I have therefore made the decision to cease Tuesday and Thursday group fitness classes as of 30 June.
Go Mum will not disappear completely however, as my focus will turn to pregnancy and postnatal recovery programs in conjunction with local physiotherapists through one on one personal training sessions. I will also be continuing with the Postnatal Return to Exercise course and our popular Friday Circuit Class will remain.
Our online booking system will remain in place however our six class passes will no longer be available, effective immediately. You will however be able to purchase classes casually for only $15 via the booking system until the end of June (or you can pay via cash or card at class).
The well being of Go Mum clients has always been at the forefront of everything I do and I know that there will be mums who are disappointed that our group fitness classes will not be as accessible, however I hope that they can appreciate my motivations and changing family needs.
If you are an existing active client, the following points may be relevant:
- Current group fitness clients will have enough time to use their existing passes before classes cease
- Samford clients will become clients of our Samford Trainer Annabel and will pay her directly effectively immediately.
- Bespoke postnatal and pregnancy PT sessions will continue to be available at Christine's home or yours
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me and I hope you will continue to be a part of the Go Mum Community through our newsletter, Facebook group and on Instagram..
